Volunteer Center Names New Director
Christopher Sizemore to head local nonprofit organization
Kalamazoo, MI May 29, 2009 - The Volunteer Center of Greater Kalamazoo has named Christopher Sizemore as its new executive director, beginning June 22. As executive director, he is responsible for leading the operational and strategic efforts of the Volunteer Center and reports to its Board of Directors. Sizemore replaces Judy Huth, who is retiring from the Volunteer Center at the end of June after serving as its executive director for more than five years.
Sizemore most recently served as Controller at the Haven of Rest Ministries in Battle Creek, and has previous experience in Community Relations with both the Detroit Pistons and the Philadelphia Eagles. He is the coach for Portage Central High School's varsity Lacrosse team and previously served on the Board of Directors for the Volunteer Center.
"Chris Sizemore brings a strong background in fund development and nonprofit management to the organization, along with a passion for volunteerism and community engagement. Working with the exceptional staff at the Volunteer Center, we are excited about his vision for the future as we work to expand the impact of the Volunteer Center in our community," stated Leigh Schultz, Vice President of the Volunteer Center's Board of Directors.

Can you help us, a little?
Sometimes a little thing can make a big difference.
This is one of those times.
We're asking everyone we know for a little help - just $20 or $30 - what you might spend on fancy coffees in a week, or one trip to the bookstore.
We know times are tough, which is why we think appealing for a little help from the whole community is the right way to cover our shortfall.
The Volunteer Center is a critical part of the social infrastructure of Kalamazoo. We coordinate the big-hearted people who volunteer their time with more than 200 non-profit agencies and organizations in Kalamazoo County.
During this time of economic trouble, people need help more than ever. We're busier than ever and can't keep up the current pace without a little help. The needs of people in trouble are so great that we need to do more.
Right now, the Volunteer Center needs to raise $10,000 to maintain its ability to recruit and place thousands of desperately-needed volunteers in local nonprofit organizations.
We believe the answer is for a large number of people to each give a small amount. That's what a good community does. With your help, that's what will see us through this crisis.
If you can, skip the coffees for a week, or maybe borrow a book from the library you can help us find and place volunteers who will provide a helping hand.
It's easy to give a little help to the Volunteer Center of Greater Kalamazoo. Send us a check for $20 or $30 or make a secure online donation by clicking here.
You'll be paying it forward and next April, Uncle Sam will pay it right back as a tax deduction.
Thank you for your support and for making Kalamazoo such a great community!
